Safety Interim report on events up to the end of June

So if a reserve or crash landing is not annoying enough, should an incident report also be made? Yes, please! This is the only way we can see whether certain incidents are becoming more frequent and whether there is a need for action. Only those who know where the problems lie can find a solution. The figures presented below relate to the period from January 1 to June 30.

Reported incidents: 28

Of which reserves: 22

Of which landing accidents: 2

Other incidents: 4

Hospitalization: 1

These 28 incidents are distributed among 23 licensed riders, 2 students, 2 AFF students and 1 tandem.

19 reserves can be described as "classics". Tensionknot, Togglefire, Twist, etc. However, 3 reserves were triggered because the knight did not find the handle of the hand deploy or could not pull it. Let's take this fact as an incentive to include the pull-up exercises as a routine in our preparation. A pull-up exercise costs less than a repack.

One report concerned a camera that became detached from the helmet during a freefall. Reto Nyffenegger has published his experience and tips on dealing with cameras in the Swiss Skydive Newsletter.

An accidental container opening on the plane was also reported. The pin probably came loose when the jumper sat down on the bench in a different position. He noticed this in time, secured the pod and informed the pilot. It should be mentioned here that this jumper was sitting in front of the pilot and was not close to the door. Let's take this incident as a reminder to check our equipment regularly, to sit quietly in the plane, to go through our routine checks before the exit and to look out for each other.
